About

I was hit by another skier in March 2015 and sustained what is best described as a 4 part displaced fracture of the head of humerus.

I had three operations, numerous physio sessions and have been left with a very stiff and sometimes painful shoulder.

I live in the UK with my two teenage children, Lucy and Max, and my long suffering husband George.

This blog is about what happened to me.

  1. Hello, thank you so so so much for this blog! I am currently at 10 weeks with almost spooky similarities to your whole story! I was in a ski accident (with my husband!) and had the same fracture (proximal with ORIF, type 4 fracture-6 breaks, one large plate and 15 screws!!). Not only that, my date of surgery was just days before yours, years later so all your blogs coincide with my dates! I’m now healing for the summer as I’m a teacher but feeling frustrated that I am expected back at work in September teaching kindergarteners. Your feelings of worry and the stress of reinjuring yourself are very real for me at the moment! I’m working with my union to (fingers crossed) change jobs and teach older kids as the physical demands are much lower. I’m hopeful things will go well and your blog is my bible right now! Hope you have gained a full recovery, and are riding bikes and horses again! Thanks again, Melanie
